So me N Miss BB have serious (and stupidly) thought about an upgrade.
The Karnic 2050 was prime candidate until last night. With the help of forumite DPB Ive found out the boat is in a terrible state, why do brokers leave them rotting in compounds expecting a sale full of mould and poo. James you have a lot to answer for your fellow colleagues
That filth is hiding what I told is deteriorating gel coat. Being a blue hull it is showing severe fading and what is described as failing bad paint work. The badging has been moved so must have been cut back at some point in an attempt to make good but was described as looking worse than a 1980's Searay. That scuppers my plan of a DIY cut n polish for a few £ off but more seriously is it still worth a silly offer? Theres no way Im paying £13k for a boat to then have it in a spray shop or vinyl stick on's added over the blue. The white is mistreated but not too with the opinion it was used as a fishing boat and badly handled.
On the 2 year old canvas & framing , does anyone have a thought on the radar arch set up that has been added on the stern? at first thought it was a good addition making a nice usable camping space. But on reflection the 2 piece arch surely makes it impractical and a structural liability stuck out on its own at speed. Now I look harder it does spoil the lines of the boat somewhat and needs un attaching then moved to the stern, folded and tied together.
The rest is irrelevant, it still ticks most boxes. Ms BB doesn't want a walk over the roof cuddy and I don't want an inboard. and I still haven't heard a bad thing about Karnic. Have seen a Bayliner Trophy but not so sure on those at the moment, mainly as most are inboard and are way over 2T dry weight.
Thoughts please?
