by betty boop » 17 Dec 2014, 09:53

Anyone going to LBS? Ive seen no adverising (despite working 2 stops from Excel) and the website was so uninspiring as well. looks like a real lack of effort this year. and £25 advance £30 on the day for the extra car show on the last weekend, OMG! bonkers

I was excited but now not too sure my just go Thursday evening for a tenner for a beer and quick viewing.

RYA tickets are £12, and I saw that some of the quiet week day tickets were only £10. I'll be going anyway!

Another successful LBS for me and OH. Sad there is nothing outside any more, but I guess just not worth the effort. In any case, we enjoyed the show. Spoke to quite a few helpful retailers and had a pleasant day. Highlights? I like the Datatag for outboards, so now own a DIY datatag kit, and also the MotorBoat Owner digital magazine. What a nice bunch, they may potentially be interested in some of my projects. So yep happy with this. All good fun :)

we were there too, highlights other than the International paint magician - fantastic, had a nice chat and Im signing up for volunteer crew with tall ships charity

Im always surprised about how small and empty it gets, we ended up 3pm entry and were still finished by 5.30pm. Was fun though, just a shame its in the cold winter of wet n windy docklands.

We had a pleasant day at the boat show yesterday, met up with Mark (Centaur) of this forum for a drink and a chat.

There seemed to be a lot of smaller boats this year. For me the interesting one was the Corsiva Coaster 600 deluxe. This appears to be a very attractive entry level boat for the first time buyer. This one is fully loaded with accessories at £20,000 to which you have to add on an outboard. It will take up to 140ps outboards. The accessories seen in the picture are what you get for your £20k, including flexiteak etc.

We then had a look around the sportsboats, bling seems to be the way forward.

The metal flake paint finishes were very American, and very smart.

The huge "banging" stereos in this one attracted James.

The customisation down to the lights on the trailer may get me speaking to our laser cutting specialists.

Does not look very busy, hear reports that the Fairline Shadow is all a bit of a con really. Just a wrap job not all new as they made out.

The pictures were taken early in the day as we wanted to view the boats whilst it was quieter. Speaking to one of the designers it turns out the shadow is not just a wrap. The hull is the same targa 38 but the top side is slightly different, therefore the cabin layout has also changed a bit. The boat is painted instead of a wrap.
