Submersable trailer Lights

by Gazjen » 22 Aug 2016, 19:07

I'm just about to build a submersible light board for my boat I have too many plugs and sockets so it's all going in the name of fixed LED units they claim to be ip68 so we'll see. I'm going to use adhesive filled insulinks for the connections and silicone seal and heat shrink over the top of them. I plan to use extending curly cable so the lights can still be extended past the stern drive. I made one for the Maxum a few years ago but the LED units were a little primitive by today's standards.

I even thought of using an Arduino processor and RGB light bars to get the "Audi" indicator look :)

Hmm intersting. on the SBS trailer the light board sits in line with the back roller so leaving it in place and extendable will still cause an obstruction to launching. At the moment Im suported 2 - 3 inches above the last keel roller so wonder if that works out

The one I made for the Maxum missed the hull just, but this one will be split with a cable running down each side. It's not so much the taking it off and on that annoys it's the plugs and sockets furring up and having to be cleaned or replaced even though I don't dunk them and keep them (supposedly) protected with silicone spray.
