You could always keep the 4x4 and get a good tent and all the gear...throw it all in the boat...and off you go......we did that before...works a treat.

Turn up to a campsite...put the tent up - 4x4 and boat alongside ready to launch somewhere near when youre ready....fab weekends away..

already have that, we got rid of 2 family tents last year and bought decent 1 just for us, but we fancy wild camping & its a bit hard to pitch a tent unless you're on a campsite. With last year being the 3rd year we've had a crap weather holiday and got wet the idea appeals to be inside rather than on the wet floor of a tent constantly. But the boat has to come too one sunny days, IF we ever get any.

Gaz brilliant 2 birds 1 stone I can have it in the front garden a a shed/man cave then drive off the other option is a 20' container and a flat bed & Hiab

Only on REALLY steep slipways!
Guessing that's why the roof comes off, so they can drain it out if they forget to take the car off first?
What a great set up though!!

HAHA definitely worth posting again. not sure the budget stretches to a new motorhome and AND a motor Went to see a nice VW van conversion at the weekend and now we're smitten with VW bling, that lasted 8 hours and since then we've been round full circle in motorhome/campervan/4x4 decisions about 10 times. Each has a problem each has a worth. At the moment I might go for a car trailer and stick a 6x4 potting shed on top.

Almost like an auto, if you have an ultra low 1st.

Boat trailer and van weighed in at about 7 3/4 ton combined never had issues even on green and shingle covered slipways - awesome piece of kit

Considerng space needed to get around and park, also think about many cities now limiting parking in streets, pushing you into parking houses with passenger car clearance.

On a 6 week trip in a hired 4x4 auto camper it was an issue on several occasions, forcing us to park the in suburbs using public transportation to enter cities.
