Some one with a soul buy it

by Bigplumbs » 05 Feb 2016, 10:30

I just spoke to SBS and a guy who made loads of stuff for fletcher. The very sad thing is the last few staff from Fletcher leave today because apparently they have not been paid. The new owner who apparently bought the company for about £40K seems to have run it into the ground.

I think it is so sad to see such a great British Institution like Fletcher disappear. Come on one of you on here with some money go and buy the company and lets see it rise from the ashes.

I have 3 +1 (my brothers) fletchers and I love them. I just haven't got any money :)

As I said on YBW, and have said several times in-between NOT SURPRISED. Wessex Bristol/Ayiaz Ahmed is appears to be an incompetent fool.

Thing is, it sill apart from assets be worthless now. When I saw that the accounts were late, and nothing was being done admin side behind the scenes I knew it would end badly.

Absolutely 100% agree with you Ed. Either that or he just doesn't have any business ethics at all and is playing at ruining business's in the UK, now including Fairline Boats Ltd!!!

Wonder why on earth they did???

The next paragraph is actually a much shortened picture of what has happened with Fletcher Boats, therefore if anything has been left out, it is in the interest of not posting several pages.

There has been a long ongoing court battle encompassing the "Fletcher" name. It started way back, as no doubt you all know, when SBS bought the business from Hornby, the name and goodwill was not entirely sold with the business, it was actually named Fletcher International Ltd. I think it was SBS mouldings and then Fletcher International Ltd and for a time they imported boats from Galeon (Polish built) who actually build respectable bespoke yachts.

Consequently although some people in the background have all been trying to hold it together, the business has been in decline for a long time and if someone was to come along with a long term solution, it may flourish once again but I fear, with a lot more money than a few thousand. I also fear that now this Ahmed fellow has it, the cost to re-establish it all might conclude that it would be better to make the Fletcher Boats name into a Phoenix and kill it off now, realising that at a later date it could resurrect itself again.
