Oh I tried that. No good. The little cuddy just sat abandoned. I made a bit of an effort but once you start upscaling there aint no looking back. Which is a shame really because the cuddy was good fun and did somethings a whole lot better and best of all cheap to run, fix and generally maintain. I didn't think so at the time though, thought it was bloody expensive. But there you go, once you've outgrown it you're done for, it's just a natural progression.

Bigplumbs wrote:Can you actually get a lightweight SIB though. The one I have and will use on the main mooring is quite big when deflated. Cant tow it if I want to go fast.

What SIB did you get

We ended up getting one of these Dennis, following lots of recommendations.

It fits in our underfloor cockpit locker quite easily when folded up, and takes less than 10 mins to fully inflate even with the supplied manual pump.

Personally mine has never come out of the rope store space but for coming ashore at Swanage beach it worked a treat. 4 adults ashore easily and conveniently and it pulled the byliner buddy back 30 foot out into deep water. 4 hours & 4 beers later a quick pull on the mooring line and in she came, ladder up the bow - job done and in that instance £10+ saved on the water taxi.

Mooring buddy. I have one and used it a few times quite successfully. You have to climb over the bow however which is not always easy.

I think I was there at the Swanage mass rafting event. We had 5 boats hanging off 2 buddies at one stage.

Bigplumbs wrote:My small rubber SIB is too big to keep on the 19foot GTS, I feel that a kiddies blow up boat is too flimsy and I am too old and fat :) for a SUP. I was wondering what people use to get from their moored boat to the shore when they are on a day out and moor either on a buoy or at anchor. I was thinking about an inflatable canoe but not sure how stable that would be to get in.

I use a small inflatable with (when I can be bothered) a 2hp OB.
Does the job perfectly, big enough to fit four in to go to the beach etc but easily small enough to fit down the side of the engine. Even on my last boat which was only 18ft I used to have sib one side and Outboard the other side of the engine.
It's an old zodiac, I'll try and find some pics but it folds really small and is quite light. Inflates in no time with a 12v pump.
Would you be able to have a rearrange down the sides of the engine bay?

I've got one of these, incredibly light, when not in use rolls up into a bag/rucksack which is light enough to carry, have a 3hp Mariner 2 stroke for the back . Ive only used the tender a few times, seems well made..

In fact the last time it was used was when we had a Crowndevouz round the back of the Needles with Antlouhay and his Crownie (and another 3D tender owner), would love to have a day like this again this year...

I think this is exactly what I was looking for. Not too heavy. Small when packed, Good price. Fine for very short journeys to the beech etc and I think it will be strong enough
