This is all very well but I have a boat sat down at Swanwick full to the brim with petrol that I paid £1.35 a litre for, (Premier's fuel at cost!!!!! at the time).

I showed this post to an Irish friend who then said..."Dat's no problem sir, empty der tank, tip it away and refill it with der cheaper petrol and you'll be fown, it'll be cheaper"

Ummm, maybe not and I certainly see where you are coming from. I have to say Paul, I don't see it rising in price for the short term, so hopefully if you can get out in the interim and use what's in there then get a good fill of cheaper fuel for the summer. :)

Yes always look on the bright side, whoever said boating was affordable (cheap)

I popped over to Gibraltar today ... garage diesel was 44 pence a litre! Guess who arrived with a full tank already?

Are there many places around that do LPG for boats, is it even a viable option? Would imagine there would be plenty of boats converted if it was? I imagine the whole thing of having that much gas on a boat is the reason to not??

The local ski club boats are converted to LPG. They have a large gas tank on the shore which they fill the boats from. A gas tanker comes along and fills the main tank every now and then.

Is it acceptable in sea going craft? Any LPG filling options in the solent area? Don't get me wrong, I imagine the cost of conversion is probably close to the cost of 3 or 4 years of use so possibly not a great option?
