But depending on the County and what plod are targeted on at the time, if you drive by one of them it may never be an issue. Most police feel that as long as it very visible and working like yours, then they won't bother you. However just as a heads up, if the brief is to target cars and trailers, you would be a good target for the picky nickers. Not too much to worry about at the moment though, considering more important issues in the world and when you consider our threat level is "Severe", if you get my drift...
But you may at some stage want to consider some square ali tubing to go into the trailer at the back, which is what the knobs are for. They screw into the carriers which carry a lighting board which must span the width of the trailer. Boards must not be attached to the load.

Point taken and I didn't realise. I thought you had to be able to see lights and number plate at the rear but didn't know it couldn't be attached to the load.

My biggest problem is the Missus (Nikki), has well and truly got the boat bug after a fast trip (with her at the helm) back from Dartmouth the other day. The weather was amazing with just enough chop to make it interesting. Already doing 30 knots, she insisted on more. Boat tops out at about 37 knots but it's the way it gets there. Those old two strokes are so light and love to rev, that it accelerates like a super bike (talking from experience).

Went out again yesterday (in fact every day since we got here) and got in some really nasty stuff at one point, which was pretty hairy but nice to know we managed alright.

Trailer being fixed today and this afternoons weather is looking promising.

Loads of GoPro footage to edit when I get home.

Even been to look at some big RIB's and met with approval, so next year could be exciting. Trouble is the one we both like is £50k, whereas there is a nice 6.5m Ribeye for around half that - so let's see how we feel after this years winter - instead of reacting to what has been a great few days where it is easy to bite the bullet (wow, I've just got sensible).

Well our holiday in Salcombe is all but over, boat recovered and packing before our last sleep.

Weather was mixed from nice sunshine to heavy downpours but that's this country for you.

Really sad to be going, could easily stay another week or move here

I was looking for somewhere to take my fletcher later this year (Perhaps September) can you give me a little more info about where you launched and the mooring costs etc. Also where you stayed would be useful information

Use Batson Creek slipway, car parking and trailer parking for the week was around £45

The mooring was from The Boat Crew at £110 for the week. This was a walk ashore mooring (there is only a few, otherwise it's water taxi) and it does dry out, restricting access a good couple of hours either side of LW.

We rented a house, which can be expensive but well worth it. Avoid the main holidays and you'll get a house for about £600-700 for the week. We paid about £700 because we have stayed before and it carries certain sentimental values for us, plus there is parking.

ahhh totally jealous - great pics and I love Salcombe - never made it that far as we always get to Torquay and get a little bit too relaxed on the mooring and don't want the extra drive etc.

never realised about the trailer board - having seen many many ribs with boards like that I just assumed it was OK, I hate my 6' board its a real pain and would love to hang it off a tower if I had one.

Used to go to Salcombe in the early 1980's for family holidays, Think we went 7 or 8 years in a row,
Had a small 10foot boat and went out most days, Have not been back since , But would like to go back sometime

Next year I am taking a permanent mooring in Salcombe and planning on getting a touring caravan (unless I can raise funds for another house nearby, unlikely though) to site semi permanently. It is by far our favourite place both with and without boat, albeit the drive is a bit if a pain. Perhaps we should have a Forum away weekend for us trailer boaters?
