For the first time in my life, I have a 'previous' boat.
3 and a bit years of brilliant fun and fantastic memories. Today is a sad day!
The worst thing about it is the chap who bought her (from the Eastbourne area) is putting her on a mooring, and the first things he's going to do is slobber anti foul paint all over her bottom!!!!! AAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! I spent 5 weekends of my life getting rid of that, and now it's going to be back on it a matter of a few minutes!!
Oh well... I'm sure she'll bring hours of fun to her new owner.
Incidentally, I'm surprised, but the £7500 was perhaps a little low of an asking price (she went for a little less than asking, but it was only a little less) but I have SO much interest. At least 10 people wanted to come and view, and many people making offers in excess of 7k on hearing that I'd already provisionally sold her... needless to say I honoured my agreement with the chap who took her. In honesty, with a bit more patience, I think an asking price of 8.5k would have yielded a return in the high 7k's within a couple of weeks, and perhaps the low 8k's after a month or so. I'm not disappointed in the least though - in my view, everyone's a winner, as we've got a fair price, and the buyer has got a great boat at a good price.
If anyone's interested - here is the info sheet I put together for all serious sounding enquiries, and in my opinion, this is what sold her, as every offer I received, came after this info sheet was sent over. Essentially, what I tried to do was point out all the BAD points, as in my view, honesty is the best policy (and saves a lot of wasted time/disappointment for everyone): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7m23zzDELghVjlHNDV1ckN0QWc
Anyway, the sale was agreed within 36 hours of the advert going live on eBay, and the money was in my account and the boat was being towed away just 18 hours later. Must have been doing something right!
Oh, and on the point of brokers - Southampton Dry Stack have no penalties if you manage a DIY sale - I was pretty sure that was the agreement before people pointed it out on here, but checked with them and they confirmed that all was OK.
Oh, and one last thing - keep an eye on any new announcements coming from SDS this Friday - something quite interesting will be revealed, but I've been sworn to secrecy!
