I went through that period about 20yrs ago and continued for a while, until 8yrs ago a Grandchild was conceived, I told my daughter off and said I was too young to have grandchildren, her mother thought it was a very bad idea and said at her age grandchildren were not an option. It didn't work!!
Then my father's legacy, which my mother was in control of and my father in laws legacy kicked in. The rest of our children gradually left home and unfortunately met absolutely delightful partners.......bugger, why oh why could they have not have been awful, rude, insulting, conniving, money grabbing partners?

They are all exceptionally loving people, who my father would have been delighted to have shared his life with and unfortunately who my father in law also loves. Consequently, my wife and I love them all and because they are struggling through life at their moment, as we did, but who are not asking for anything, we feel that when the time comes, maybe they can have an easier life.
Why am I telling you all this? I don't know, but if you have teenage, or younger children it might make you think a tad first. If, on the other hand they turn out to be genius's or they rule the world.........who care's eh?
