Poole Harbour for 2 nights

by NickT » 01 Mar 2015, 22:10

I am planning a trip down to Poole Harbour from the Hamble and intend to moor at Poole Quay overnight and stay in a local hotel on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Trips will include Wareham river, Brownsea Island/Harbour Cruise, and round to Swanage.

May also pop into Christchurch for a cuppa on the way down there as it will break the 40 mile trip.

June is the preferred date - heading out on Friday sometime (need to get the tides right to run down the Solent).

If anyone is interested for all or part of the trip please PM me.

Thanks

Nick

Sounds good to us. It will depend on which weekend and its a little way off yet but we would join in if possible.

The RNLI training centre does good weekend hotel rooms and has great views over the water.

Sounds like a good plan. We've done the trip and stayed at Cobbs which is OK but you have the bridges to contend with.

Count me in as a definitely possible.

Hmmm this is the sort of thing Laura and I would love to do. My shift work is a pain for organising things but if it fits, yeah great! :)

Hi All,

Thanks for your various replies.

I'll check with the boss and see which weekend is good and let you know proposed date via PM.

I think it will need the Friday to travel down and go to Christchurch etc., doing the trip on the Sat/Sun will compress everything...

I'll also check out the RNLI hotel thanks.

Cheers

The RNLI centre is very like a boutique hotel type of accommodation, very clean tidy but basic for a really good price. We very nearly stayed there a couple of years ago before we joined the RNLI Shoreham area fund raising section, but when we had raised the cash in the forum Auction.

Sounds like a good weekend. Something i really fancy doing also so makes sense to do it as a group. Will wait and see what weekend you choose as i also am on call alot (which tends to ruin weekends! :x )

Like the sound of the plan though. :)

Looking at this realistically I think Just will be a no go for me. We have a family do over the weekend of the 20th and a holiday possibly weekend of the 6th or 13th so am pushing my luck taking any more Fridays off.
