Keep the Season Going

by Bigplumbs » 25 Oct 2016, 18:52

So my larger boats are out of the water and you have a day of work and the weather is lovely at the end of October. What do you do.

You go out in your baby rib up the river and out to sea as it was flat calm (oh and rescue a raggie who had gone aground on the bar). This little boat is as far as I am concerned the best fun you can have for a small expenditure (£2400) and incredibly economic. All today I doubt if I will have used 5 ltrs on the little 15 hp 4 stroke.

Dead easy to launch and retrieve on your own, you just pull it on and off the trailer by hand.

She is a Valliant D340 and I love her, I plan to use her as and when all winter.

looks good, in another life I have an order ready to place, but just yet there is no room or cash (but plenty of time) but is there extra weight allowance for all the flags?

We stole a cheeky trip yesterday. Had planned to go to the coast for a mooch around on Friday (walk on beach etc.) and a "friend" has just got a new boat (I will leave him to post his news so no pictures with the owner in) so there was half a plan to steal a ride.

Got texted on Monday saying Tuesday was looking good, so a hurried set of emails and conversations with managers and Home Command re-arranged the trip to yesterday.

Can I say what a totally fantastic day. Weather was just perfect (tee-shirt warm), new boat was lovely and company was great. What a great surprise end to the season.

Looking good early morning.

i have to say i regret the hasty winterising last week as I thought this would happen, FB reminders going off that we've had hot October days out on Betty at least 3 times in the last 5 years and now lovely pics of still warm waters and warmer weather than we had in August  . luckily for me I get to spend the time in a shell of a bathroom with no shower for a week,
