Engine and drive parts.

The only boat breaker I know on the internet is coastal rides. However you hear reviews of their service at both extremes of the comment spectrum. In particular I have heard comments around "refurbished" parts simply being old parts painted in new green paint. They certainly seem to buy wrecked boats and part them out. I have not had personal experience of them.

I have been involved with sourcing 'refurb' parts for cars.
In a great many cases ... they have just been pressure washed and painted .... allways a risk.
If it is a part you can fully evaluate before fitting ... fine, but anythung with internal parts .. eg seals, bearings, gears ... be wary.

I gave up looking at scrap dealers, there was no point as most of the ones I've used are now charging the same as main dealer or new suppliers. exhausts and locks/handles etc mainly but I always look, get a price. On some VW parts scrap Ebay was 30% more expensive than going to the nearest VW dealer and ordering new. seems they are looking to fleece people who naturally think used is cheap.

As for scrap / used merc parts Ive seen a few on eBay too mainly stuff u can't get easily or special stuff the is new but old stock, always worth a check to see whats on offer but buyer beware as always on eBay
