Well, I was allowed to go to the boat this weekend but the prison warden removed the ignition and tender keys. Still sitting on the boat is the next best thing where I am

The weather around Torbay wasn't too good either....so we loaded the tender & outboard into the car and launched from MDL Dartside. A lovely evening spent on the River Dart to Totnes, a bite to eat, then back again.

It may have been slower and noisier than usual but still very picturesque and thoroughly enjoyable!

Don't give up yet Matt, my kids weren't at all bothered about the boat but since I've bought it back they're loving it now they're a little older. Currently begging to go back to Loch Lomond :)

Not quite readyto give up just yet Gaz but we'll see, need a nice calm warm day to get their confidence back up!

I agree, dont give up yet Matt. As your kids grow that little bit older and the start to let friends know Dad has a boat, things will change slightly. I'm available for crewing, but if you do give her up I think you and Colin might be asked to crew for me, should I ever find something I actually want to buy that is. :D

Since the early posts in this thread I think we have had some amazing boating weather. Hope you all have managed to get out and make the best of it

Thankfully the chief officer and I are both committed to our boating and we aim to be on the boat almost every weekend April to October and and some weekends or days aboard in the winter. Our grown up daughters aren't particularly interested in the boat.

We had a late start to the season this year and missed the first May bank holiday as the boat was ashore. But following a few weekends out and a two week holiday we have clocked up 75 engine hours this year without really trying. In recent years we have not taken holidays abroad and only take holidays on the boat.

I think to get best value out of a boat it needs to be something of an obsession for both skipper and chief officer.
