What would you do if........

What would you do if you had a spare £60,000 and needed a new car and wanted to buy a boat?

I just voted and I seem to be the only one !

To afford our first boat we did hold onto my wifes car a couple of extra years.
Her present car is 7 years old - no plans to change it.

In may case take out a PCP plan (personal finance with bubble payment) .... avoids the large capital cost.
Then use spare to buy the boat.

Didn't vote as options don't really fit what I did.

In the world I live in I cannot conceive of spending £60K on a boat and a car. I could do both for £20K. I have never felt the need for new

How much would you spend on a boat if you had £20k and how much on a car? :)

Never bought a car new myself. It just doesn't float my boat. Normally buy between 3 and 5 year old and bin at 8 to 10. The depreciation loss is chronic. So given 13k is the most I have ever spent on wheels then we know where this is going.

I haven't actually had/driven a brand new car since leaving the motor trade and have been adamant never to buy one, until last year when I did what Argonaut has done and got a PCP for SWMBO, a very nice little Yaris Hybrid, fabulous car, lots of wizzy stuff and great technology and its what she wanted.

Although, I now think what I should have asked was....

If "you" had a spare £60k and needed to buy a another car but wanted to buy a boat. Would you.....

Split it 50/50?
Would you buy a used car and a used boat?
More car than boat?
More Boat than car?

However, now there are a few idea's on the table, would you....

Buy a cheap used car and put a deposit on a bigger boat with a marine mortgage?
