A SIB doesn't have a rigid hull. i.e. my tender for instance with a hard deck and inflatable keel is classed as a SIB. You're thinking of a SUP. Stand Up Paddle board

pretty much unless I'm horribly mistaken. There may be finer points to it like having a rigid deck and a keel as opposed to flat bottomed and slatted, but in essence yes.

Only previous experience is with a SIB last year, so I may be reaching out more than you have bargained for.

I thought first off this was a typo and you meant a RIB but guess you mean something else .... is it a ... standup inflatable board ?

More or less answered by BruceK,

Inflatable tubes but hull is not permanently rigid, therefore can be rolled up into carry bag and transported inside car, the obvious advantage is that you do not need a slipway. All have a solid transom, various floor types from wooden slats to aluminium sheets which slot into side rails, some have a high pressure tube between floor and keel giving a shallow V keel.

Great fun them. Sometimes I think the cruiser is just there to take me to where the family can play in the SIB. We can kneeboard from ours and drag a few toys about...slowly, but my biggest joy is just hooning about like a go-kart in the water. You may not be going terribly fast but it sure as hell feels like it

Yeh, I'm a member on there..
Many of us use the various sibs and fribs as main boats.
A great page describing the differences..
http://www.f-ribsandsibs.com/viewforum.php?f=29
Explains the different floor types of a sib (soft inflatable boat)
And the differences to a rib.
Mines an f-rib. Folds up like a sib but performs and handles like a little rib.
Awesomeness that folds up lol
