Well having just been made redundant along with a couple of work colleagues I decided that today (1st December) was a good day to go out in the Fletcher Bowrider. It has a 115 hp 2 stroke on the back so apart from putting some stabil in the tank I don't believe in all that winterising nonsense so she is ready to go.
So yesterday I started her up and she ran fine. At 7 am today in the dark me and her indoors took the cover off her which involved knocking off some ice (never had to clear ice before to go boating), Prepped all the stuff and set of for the slipway where I met my friend Lindsay. We launched at about 9 am
All I can say is that if you have never been out in your boat on a cold crisp, clear calm day it is a great pleasure. The sea was a joy as was the river (Which has no speed limit this time of year Yahoooooooooooooooooo). I am pleased to say that we had a lovely day and rounded it all off with an all day Breakfast.
40 ish knots on a flat calm sea in the cold is quite a buzz for some reason.
Go on make the effort and give it a go you will be pleased you did. There were about 4 other brave souls out as well
Dennis
