interesting - is that the brown staining gone alone the water line/white gel coat? Mines is the same won't come off with a polish but is it safe? thought I saw it was an aggressive powder cleaner so not sure how you used it.

Its just an acid so no abrasive stuff.

Its cheap and is also the primary ingredient of Cillit Bang. Occasionally shops have offers on Cillit Bang (ie. £1 a bottle) so I pick up loads. We squirt it around the boat when recovering on the trailer, particularly if it has spent a couple of days in the river.

Spray on, spread with cloth, hose off, wipe down with cloth, lose all the skin on your hands (wear gloves!!!!!)

Amazing, does it affect the gel coat at all?

Shouldn't affect the gel. It's similar to Starbright hull cleaner.

Just mix with some warm water (about 15 % dry acid and 85 % water) and sponge on then wash off about 30 mins later. Some people have said to mix in a little wall paper paste to thicken it up a bit but I did not do this. I don't think it damages the boat at all. I think it just eats away the dirt

Here is where you can get it

Give it a go you will be amazed it happens before you eyes

I'd be concerned that it would be removing any polish on a polished hull. If it is not safe on your hands I would not want to use it on regular basis on a polished surface. - but that is just my view.

If you are happy with it though then it works for you.

You can also get Oxalic acid crystals on eBay ... or buy it as 'The barkeepers friend' in the supermarket - I used it to take off the darkening of hardwood furniture

What other method would you use to clean the hull and also after the Oxy clean re polish which I do at the start of the season anyway

I wash boat after every use in hot water & shampoo.
At start, mid & end season I polish boat with Meguiars Marine polish ... this removes any trailer roller scuff marks and puts high shine on gelcoat.

It really is great stuff on gelcoat, best polish & cleaner I have come across.

Never any need to do more than that, my boating is all salt water - but I tow & don't moor so that may be the difference.

Mooring is indeed the difference . You get the proverbial tide mark as in the pics above
