Check your Nuts

by Bigplumbs » 11 Oct 2016, 05:11

After pulling the boat out I noticed that my brand new Garmin transom transducer was wobbly. On further inspection the supplied nuts had dissolved leaving the plastic nyloc bits in place. The bolts were OK. That was not very good stainless they supplied there

Blimey dissolving nuts, that's not good. I'd like to be a fly on the wall when that conversation takes place.

Got a reply from Garmin:

Dear Dennis Norman,

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

Garmin are aware of these reports, however this has now been addressed.

In early versions of the Transducer, the hardware did exhibit corrosion issues after little use. Garmin have been investigating the reasons for this and have now provided new mounting hardware for use with our Transducers will be more suitable for use with the Transducer.

If you are able to provide the details below, I will be happy to send replacement mounting hardware to you.

I could have just got some nuts but I was interested to see if Garmin were aware and looks like they were. Not quite as bad as the Samsung 7 phone but interesting none the less
