Just thinking that a big light would be counter productive, your night vision takes 45min to come to full effect so shining any light would be detrimental in the short term but would put you at ease. Red light for close up work but no good for distance, any bino's are good even in the dark at magnifing ambiant light or a basic image intensifier is a good idea if you are going regularly. On the big orange boat we shy'd away from full night vision as the outlay was huge but the cheaper 1 eye'd green screen things did a good job and are affordable now Im led to believe.
