20 per trip

Having used the Cure now a few times I am using about 20 ltrs of petrol per outing. We are usually out for half to 3/4 day including getting to the boat and getting back to the car. So about £22 in petrol. This is mixed speed with about 20 - 30 mins of fast and the rest at about 6 knots.

I am quite happy with this expenditure per outing

Fuel consumption is a funny one, no one likes pouring money into the tank to just disappear but my view (with a V8) is that as long as you are getting the enjoyment out of the day, and it's not all your worrying about then the cost is irrelevant. I worried quite a bit to start with when i got this one as i thought it was going to cost too much but to be honest, it was only a slight increase from a strained 4 cyl and the days out are worth every penny.
Glad your happy with it and look forward to lots of good reports of great days out over the summer.
Lets face it, if we weren't pouring money into boats and fuel it would be something else...

Yep - That's one of the best things about the 19GTS. On a calm day, we used to be able to get from Southampton Drystack to Cowes and back for little more than a single jerry can of fuel. That's cheaper than a ticket on the ferry!

As Spirit was our very first boat, I must admit to being a bit worried about fuel consumption, given that my yardstick for fuel usage was the 40mpg or so I get from my car. As soon as we'd benchmarked it though (and sorted the prop issue) then I was really quite comfortable with out fuel outlay.

All that said, but just checked, and we've covered over 300 miles in Hantu Biru and used a grand total of 15 litres of diesel! And even then, that's with 4 hours of motoring up/down the Itchen twice to get lifted out to sort out a keel issue. Without this, we'd have probably used fewer than 10 litres!
